I thought overlooking tiny safety stuff was fine until yesterday

We had a job where the lead diver said to skip a full gear inspection to meet the deadline. Seeing a valve leak almost cause a big problem made me rethink all the small risks we take. What's your line when the boss asks you to hurry up on checks?

Seriously, that story about the regulator freezing is exactly it. Once you start letting one small check slide, it gets way too easy to skip the next one too.

My buddy rushed a regulator check before a cold water dive... thing froze up at 30 meters. He doesn't cut corners on prep anymore, no matter who's pushing.
