That $1,300 drysuit repair bill taught me a lesson about zippers

Last season my drysuit zipper started leaking on a job off the coast of Norfolk. I sent it to a shop in Virginia Beach and they quoted me $1,300 for a full replacement and valve service. I almost bought a cheaper suit instead, but I'm glad I paid it because the old one has been solid for 14 dives since. Anyone else spend big money keeping older gear alive instead of upgrading?
