TIL a simple way to keep my dive log from smudging underwater

Used a grease pencil and it stays put now.

Seriously? How much are you writing down there? I just do the basic info on my slate, depth and time, maybe a cool fish. Feels like keeping a perfect log is more for showing the shop later than actually needing it.

Yeah, @jasonbaker, you are SO right about this. I used to fill up whole pages with notes, thinking it was important. But honestly, it just became a chore that took away from the fun. Now I keep it super simple, just like you said, depth and time on the slate. If I see a cool turtle or something, I'll draw a little picture, but that's it. Those detailed logs are TOTALLY for showing off later, not for any real use. I'd rather spend my time underwater actually diving, not writing.

Heard some dive instructors say simple logs are safer too.
