SNES vs Genesis sound chips, I was a Genesis guy until a friend's stereo setup changed my mind
Back in the mid 90s I swore the Genesis had the better tunes. Louder, punchier, more rock and roll. Then my buddy hooked his SNES up to a proper receiver with some big floor speakers, not the TV speakers we all used. We played Super Metroid and then Streets of Rage 2 back to back, and the SNES atmosphere just had this depth to it. The Genesis still wins for pure energy, but that night made me realize I was only hearing half the story. Anyone else flip sides on the sound debate after hearing a good stereo? What track sold you?
