I used to think editing my videos right after filming was the only way

For the last year I'd edit my gaming clips the same night I recorded them, but I was always rushing and missing good moments. A creator I follow on Twitch said she waits 24 hours before even looking at her footage. I tried it last week with my Valorant session, and when I came back I cut a 45 minute recording down to a tight 8 minute highlight reel in half the time. Having that space let me see what was actually funny instead of what felt fresh. Has anyone else found a specific delay that works for their editing process?

Honestly, my first edits were so bad because I'd jump right in. I'd spend an hour on a clip that wasn't even funny, just because it happened five minutes ago.
