The week my subscriber count tripled and then flatlined in 4 days
Last Tuesday one of my videos about bad ductwork filters got clipped by a bigger channel and I woke up to 1,200 new subs after sitting at 400 for like 8 months. Then by Saturday the algorithm just stopped pushing it, engagement dropped to almost zero, and now I'm stuck with this weird audience that only wants HVAC fails while my other content gets ignored. Has anyone else had a sudden spike like that and figured out how to keep those viewers interested in your regular stuff?
I had something like that happen when a clip of me fixing a mini split got picked up on a Reddit thread, gained about 900 subs in two days, and then it was like someone flipped a switch. The odd part was my watch time from those new folks stayed decent for a couple weeks, then totally fell off a cliff once the clip stopped showing up in feeds. I ended up posting a short follow up to the original clip and pinning a comment linking to my older stuff, which got a few hundred of them to actually click through. What finally helped was just making two or three more vids on the same topic before slowly mixing the regular stuff back in, because fighting the wave never worked for me.
