The week my client's blog went from 200 to 9,000 views because of one dumb spreadsheet
So back in January I was doing content for a small landscaping company here in Sacramento, and I was stuck in that trap of writing what I thought people wanted to read. You know, like "5 Tips for a Greener Lawn" type stuff. Each post got maybe 200 views, and the owner, Dave, kept asking why we were even bothering. I was about ready to quit when I pulled up Google Search Console and did something I should have done way earlier: I sorted every query by impressions but zero clicks. Turns out people kept searching "how often should I water my lawn in Sacramento summer" and we had nothing on that. Not one post. I wrote one 800 word post answering that exact question with real numbers, like how often to water and at what time of day, and it hit 9,000 views in 11 days. Dave called me on a Saturday just to say the phone was ringing. Now I do that impressions vs clicks sort every single month before I write anything. Anyone else doing this, or am I the last person to figure it out?
