Showerthought: I had a client in Portland who wanted a drastic color correction from black box dye to platinum in one session, and I had to talk her down to a multi-step plan over 8 weeks to save her hair.

She was really upset at first, but after I showed her a strand test that snapped and explained the science of lift, she agreed, and now she's a regular client with healthy blonde hair, so where do you draw the line between giving a client what they want and protecting the integrity of their hair?

Portland taught me that lie is the real red flag.

Man, I used to think you should just do what the client asks for, they're paying you. But I saw a post from @danielr94 that made me rethink it. He said the line is when you'd have to lie about the damage, and that clicked for me. Now I see it's my job to explain the real risk, even if it means saying no to a quick sale.

Honestly, the line is drawn when you'd have to lie about the possible damage to do it.
