DAE have a limit block fail right in the middle of a pick in Baton Rouge
Had a load cell on the LMI start reading 15 percent light last Tuesday during a truss pick in Baton Rouge. The horn never went off, just the display drifted and I caught it on the screen before I boomed out. I stopped mid swing, set the truss back on the deck, and shut the machine down right there. Turned out moisture got into the connector behind the junction box. We swapped the plug and dried it out, and it read good the rest of the day. Anyone else keep a spare connector and dielectric grease in the cab for stuff like this?
Man that is a scary one. Good thing you caught it on the screen before you boomed out, because that horn not going off is the part that would keep me up at night. Moisture in those connectors will do it every time, especially with all the rain and humidity we get down here. Smart move setting the truss back down and shutting it off instead of trying to baby it through the swing. That's the kind of thing where a guy talks himself into finishing the pick and then something bad happens.
