Pro tip: taping your hard hat in a windstorm saved my load last month in Gary
Two weeks ago I was on a 90 ton pick in Gary, Indiana, and the wind kicked up to 28 mph out of nowhere. I keep a strip of duct tape over the brim of my hard hat because a guy named Ray showed me that trick back in 2019, and it stops the hat from turning into a sail when you lean over to read the load chart. The tape cost me maybe 50 cents and it kept my eyes on the hook instead of chasing my hat across the site. The signal guy said he watched three other guys lose theirs that same gust. Anyone else got a cheap fix like that they swear by? I want to hear what you all carry in your vest that does not come from a catalog.
