The 100-word prompt beat my 2,000-word outline from last Tuesday

I spent hours planning a huge fantasy plot and then tried writing from just a random prompt about a door that only opens when you lie, and the short version came out way sharper with actual tension, so has anyone else found that limits beat prep work every time?
