Just found out my building's vacancy rate is worse than the official numbers show

Was digging through the city's Q3 property tax appeals and noticed that 14 of the 22 units I thought were leased are actually under short-term holdovers, not signed leases. That's a 30% gap nobody at the broker's office mentioned. Anyone else check the county assessor records before renewing?

Wait, 14 out of 22 units are on holdovers and nobody flagged that? That's not a small detail, that's basically the whole story. I'd be livid if I found that out after renewal paperwork was already signed. You'd think the broker would have to mention it, but I guess their job is done once you commit. Did you pull the actual appeal filings or just the summary page? Because sometimes the county data is a mess too, but if the numbers line up with what you're seeing, that's a huge red flag. I'd be calling my lawyer before the ink dries on anything.
