Air dryer purge valve froze up on me outside Cheyenne

Had a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia lose all air pressure on US-85 near Cheyenne last month, thought my compressor was toast. Turned out the purge valve on the air dryer was stuck open, dumping all the air every time it cycled. I always blamed the compressor first, but a buddy at the Loves shop in Cheyenne showed me the moisture buildup was the real culprit. Anyone else replace those valves before tearing down a compressor for nothing?
