That rant hits close to home for a lot of folks. DEF systems are just picky by design, with sensors that trip over minor stuff. Sure, checking simple things like fluid level should come first, and it often does. But the computer fault codes usually point to specific DEF problems, not general mechanical issues. Ignoring those codes because they seem like phantoms can lead to expensive repairs down the road. So it's a balance between basic checks and trusting the diagnostic tools we have now.
