Hit my first $5k month as a nomad after 8 months of grinding

I went from barely scraping $2k in Chiang Mai back in March to $5,100 this month doing freelance writing and remote VA work. What changed was finally dropping the lowest paying clients and raising my rates by 30%. Anyone else have a similar turning point where you just stopped settling for bottom tier jobs?

Hey, did you also get that weird rush when you fired your first lowball client? I had the same turning point about a year ago when I dropped three clients that were paying $15 an hour and suddenly had room for better work. Once you see how much less stress and more money comes from saying no to the cheap stuff, it's hard to go back.

Ah man, I gotta disagree with you there. I've kept a couple of my lower paying clients around because they're EASY work and I can knock them out in my sleep while I wait for bigger projects to clear. One guy pays me $20 to edit his newsletter every month and it takes me maybe 15 minutes, that's still solid money per hour even if the total is small. Not every cheap client is a problem, sometimes they're just simple and predictable.
