Vent: I used a pressure washer on my deck for 3 years before I saw the damage
Finally noticed the boards were splintering bad after I washed them last weekend, turns out I was holding the nozzle way too close at full blast. Read online that you should keep it at least 12 inches away and use a wider tip for softwood, now I'm looking at sanding and sealing an extra $80 in supplies. Anyone else figure out a basic mistake like this way too late?

Wait, did you NOT test the pressure on a spot you couldn't see first? I mean, I get it, we've all been there, but 3 years is a long time to not notice the wood getting chewed up. Were the boards already soft or rotten in spots before you even started washing? Cause that changes the whole fix, like if you gotta replace boards versus just sanding them down.
