Hot take: Lower pump speed in sticky silt cuts cleanup time in half

We were working a bend in the river last week where the bottom was pure, gooey silt. The discharge screen kept plugging up every twenty minutes, which was a huge pain. I got fed up and decided to drop the pump RPMs way down, just as a test. Believe it or not, the material flowed smoother and the screen stayed clear! It seems the slower pull lets the water carry the fines better without packing them. We finished that section a full shift early because we weren't constantly shutting down. Try this next time you hit a slick silt patch, it's a game changer!

Delta project last year, slowing the pump worked better.

Always cranked it to max like an idiot, no wonder my screen looked like a clogged drain.

What did you crank to max, @christopherjackson, and what was the result?
