Changed my mind about checking the pit sump pump on every call

I was at a 12 story office building in Tacoma last month for a door adjustment. The call was simple, so I almost skipped the pit check to save time. I went down anyway and found the sump pump float switch stuck, with water just an inch from the bottom of the car. If that had failed, we'd have a real mess. Now I look every single time, no matter how small the job. How many of you make that a hard rule on your own jobs?

Used to think it was fine until it bit me hard.

Remember thinking I could skip backing up my computer (what could go wrong, right?). Lost a whole year of photos when the hard drive just quit.
