Just saw my old band t-shirts in a new light for fashion design...
I've been cutting up my vintage band t-shirts to make quilted vests... and everyone says it's a waste of good merch. But I think it's the best way to keep the memory alive in a wearable form. The mix of colors and logos from different eras creates a story on fabric. I hand-stitch the patches together to keep that raw, personal feel... machine sewing would make it too clean. Yeah, it takes time, but the result is one of a kind. Fashion should be about personal expression, not just buying new stuff. So next time you think about tossing an old shirt, maybe see it as fabric for something new.

Hey @robin_chen87, I see your point about keeping shirts intact, but slicing them up lets me blend memories from different shows into one piece. Hand-stitching those patches myself makes the vest feel lived-in, like each thread holds a specific night. It's not just cloth, it's a new way to carry all those concerts forward without the shirts sitting unused.

Wait, isn't cutting up a vintage shirt just destroying it? Those old tees are cool because they're the real thing. Turning them into a quilt feels like you're making a souvenir of a souvenir. It's just cloth now, the story's kinda gone.

Nah, @robin_chen87, cutting them gives the stories new life. My quilt gets used every day, that's better than a shirt stuck in a drawer.
