Unpopular opinion: Should we stop obsessing over sustainable fabrics and focus on durability instead?

I read a report from the Fashion Revolution group last week that said 60% of eco-friendly clothes end up in landfills within two years because they fall apart so fast. Meanwhile, cheap polyester blends from the '90s are still going strong in thrift stores. Does it make more sense to design for longevity even if the materials aren't green, or is that just a cop-out for the industry to avoid real change?

Isn't this just another version of how we replace things constantly instead of taking care of what we already have? We treat clothes like they're disposable and then act surprised when the planet suffers for it.

Yeah, that report actually changed my mind too.
