Shoutout to the organic bread that isn't actually whole wheat
I was at a farmer's market in Portland last weekend and saw a loaf labeled "organic artisan bread" with a wheat stalk on the front, but the first ingredient was enriched white flour. Why do we let companies slap a health halo on bread just because it's organic when it's still basically white bread?

Oh wow, that is so frustrating and honestly it happens way too often. I'm with you completely on this, @paigem45's buddy definitely got tricked like so many people do with that "organic" label. You'd think paying more at a farmers market would guarantee the bread is actually made with whole grains, but nope, they just slap that wheat stalk on there and call it a day. It's basically marketing fluff, and people who are trying to eat better end up getting fooled because they trust the packaging over the actual ingredient list. I always tell folks to flip the loaf over and check for "100% whole wheat" as the first thing, because organic white flour is still just white flour in the end.
