Ditched time tracking and my projects got smoother

I used to log all my hours, which made me rush through jobs. Now I charge a fixed rate per project, and I can focus on doing good work. Do you have a better way to set your fees?

Time tracking turns every task into a speedrun. A fixed project fee lets you actually solve problems instead of just racing the clock. The old way seems like a lot of extra hassle for worse results.

Remember that client who kept changing their mind mid-project? We had a fixed fee deal, so instead of rushing, we could actually listen and adjust without worrying about the clock. Matthews21 is right about how time tracking can make things feel like a race against the clock. But with fixed fees, you focus on the solution, not the seconds. Ever had a project where the billing method totally changed how you worked?

But what if a fixed fee just makes clients ask for endless changes, @terryf42?
