Just finished my solar project and I'm STUCK: battery backup seems great but PRICEY, grid-tie is easier but less CONTROL. What do you all think?

Used to believe grid-tie was the only smart choice for saving cash. After a few power outages, the control from batteries became real clear. Now I see the value in spending more for that peace of mind.

Yeah that backup power is no joke. We had a three day outage last winter and our battery bank kept the fridge and lights going, totally worth the extra cost.

@logan975's shift from grid-tie to valuing batteries after outages says a lot. What's your local outage situation like, frequent or rare? That'll help weigh if the extra cost for control is worth it for you. Also, consider how much you rely on power for essentials daily.
