I swore by silent cuts until a toddler's tantrum changed everything
I always figured the best haircuts happened in total silence, with no distractions. But last month, a little boy started screaming when his mom brought him in for his first cut. His mom was flushed, and I was about to say we should come back later, but I made a silly face and pretended to cut my own ear by mistake. The kid stopped crying and laughed, letting me finish the fade without more trouble. Now I see that a bit of playfulness can turn a tough spot into a good time. I've started keeping a small box of toys and stickers for young clients, and it's made my shop much more welcoming. Switching up my style has helped me bond better with families around here.
