Hot take: I paid $75 for an "AI art course" on Udemy and it was just a guy typing prompts for 4 hours
Saw a YouTube ad last month for a course called "Master AI Art in 30 Days" and figured 75 bucks was worth it since I suck at drawing hands. First module was literally him typing "hyperrealistic cyberpunk girl, 8k, trending on artstation" into Midjourney while lo-fi played in the background. By module 4 he was showing us how to "fix" bad generations by... generating them again. I finished the whole thing in one afternoon and the only thing I learned is that I could've watched the same info for free on a 12 minute TikTok. Anyone else get suckered by one of these prompt packs or am I the only one who paid tuition to a guy in his mom's basement?
Kind of a weak take honestly, since 75 bucks for 4 hours of structured walkthroughs is like 19 an hour, which is cheaper than most private lessons. The real value in those courses isnt the prompt text itself, its seeing someone's actual workflow start to finish, including the boring parts like fixing bad seeds and iterating. You can learn the same stuff free on TikTok but you'll spend 20 hours piecing it together from 50 different clips, so you basically paid for someone to save you that time.
