I found my old sketchbook from high school and it hit me.

Back then, every smudge was mine (you know, from erasing too much). Now I see AI pieces that look perfect, and it makes me wonder about the soul in art.

Seriously, that bit about the smudges just hit different. You can't fake that kind of history in a piece.

How can you not notice them now though? I used to see smudges as just dirt or a flaw, something to clean off. But after reading what @the_jade said about the history, I totally get it. It's like those fingerprints or marks show it was actually used and loved by someone.
