Six months ago I couldn't get an AI to write a decent email without sounding like a robot
After switching to a much smaller open-source model and actually reading the documentation for once, my automated customer replies finally stopped getting flagged as spam and my open rates went up 40 percent - has anyone else found that the big commercial models just don't work for niche business stuff?

My friend Kate runs a vintage book shop and she spent months trying to get ChatGPT to write her monthly newsletter about rare first editions. It kept making up fake book titles and using language that sounded nothing like how real book collectors talk. She switched to a smaller model trained on old publishing catalogs and now her open rate is higher than it's ever been since she started the newsletter five years ago.

I mean, maybe it's just me but smaller models can be surprisingly good for niche stuff.
