Our warehouse AI flagged 200 orders in one afternoon and nobody can agree if that was a win or a disaster
Last Thursday the new picking AI at our Sparks, NV warehouse rerouted almost every order because it thought the shelves were in the wrong spots, and we spent 5 hours putting things back. Half my crew says it caught real mistakes we'd been missing for months, the other half says it just cost us a whole shift for nothing. If your team has handed real control to an AI like this, did you trust it or pull the plug?
The thing about almost every order getting rerouted because the shelves were in the wrong spots sounds exactly like what happened to us back in March at our plant. Our system decided the whole layout was off by a few inches and made pickers walk a totally different path, and the first day was a mess with people standing around arguing with the scanner. We gave it two weeks with a supervisor double checking its calls, and it turned out about 30 percent of the flags were real fixes that saved us from shipping wrong parts. The other 70 percent was just noise that slowed us down, but we could not see which was which until we tracked it. So my vote is you do not pull the plug yet, you just need a way to sort the good flags from the junk before it eats a full shift. Did anyone on your crew write down which of those 200 flags turned out to be real?
