Spent 3 weeks wiring a GPT wrapper into our ticket system, then Zapier did the same job in an afternoon
I built out a custom GPT wrapper that reads our support tickets, tags them by urgency, and drafts a reply. Took me roughly 3 weeks of nights and weekends, plus about $40 in API calls while I was fiddling with prompts. Then a coworker showed me a Zapier zap with the AI step that does the same tagging in maybe 20 minutes of setup. The wrapper hits the tone better on edge cases, but for 90% of tickets the Zapier version is close enough that nobody up the chain noticed the swap. I keep telling myself the wrapper was worth it because I actually learned how the API works, but my sleep schedule disagrees. Anyone else built the custom thing first and felt a little dumb after finding the no-code tool?
