Took me 5 years to realize I was over-sanding my butt joints

Used to think 80 grit was the move. This changed my mind completely.

Hostel bunks are a gamble but this one changed my strategy

That "no one packing at 5am" part hit me hard. I used to do the same cheap 10-12 person rooms and ended up exhausted. One time I paid a little extra for a 4 person room in New Orleans and actually woke up feeling rested instead of like I'd been in a fight.

Found a weird stat about cash buyers vs. financed offers

Depends on the price of the item though... a 2% fee on a $500 sale is only ten bucks. I'd pay ten bucks to not have to deal with the hassle of meeting some random person or packing up a box and going to the post office. On a $5,000 sale it's a hundred bucks and that starts to sting a little. But sometimes you just want the money in your account right then instead of waiting a week for a check to clear.

Called out on my crimp terminals after 5 years in avionics

Man, I've been there. A cheap USB microscope saved me from tearing up the wrong area on a job once. I just held it up to the subfloor to check for moisture damage before I started cutting, and sure enough, there was a spot I would have missed. It's one of those tools you don't think you need until it keeps you from a big mistake.

Used to eyeball every offset on my manual mill, now I scribe it out first

Eight years of guessing on a manual mill? That's insane man. I cringed reading that $400 endmill snap. I bet that sound was brutal. Sharpie marks are cheap insurance against that kind of heartache.
