Accidentally set my chicken nuggets to 400 instead of 400 and wondered why they were smoking after 3 minutes

Was standing in my kitchen last Tuesday watching the smoke detector go off while my nuggets turned black on the outside but were still cold in the middle, and now I double check the temp every single time like a paranoid mess - anyone else had the smoke alarm moment yet?

My buddy Mike did the same thing with fish sticks last month.

@the_evan, are you sure it was fish sticks? Because I looked it up after my buddy tried something similar, and turns out they're actually called fish fingers in some places. Not that it matters much, but Mike might be confusing them with something else if he's using the wrong name. Also, if he cooked them the same way I'm thinking, he probably should have drained the grease better first. Just saying, little details like that can change the whole outcome.
