Hot take: a $9 flashlight beats a $200 drop light for preflight walkarounds every single time
Bought a $200 LED drop light for night preflights on the King Air at Boeing Field and it lasted 4 months before the cord cracked and the thing started flickering. Picked up a little $9 handheld at the FBO counter just to get through a trip, and I have been using it for a year and a half now, no cord to drag, no bulb to swap. The drop light is sitting in my rollaway somewhere and I do not miss fighting that cord across the ramp in the rain. What is everyone else using for walkarounds when it is dark out?
