The passenger who asked me to check his magic trick props

Last summer I was working a turn around in Nashville, and this one passenger walks up to me at the gate holding a cardboard box. He says real serious, 'Can you make sure my rabbits are okay down there?' I laughed, but he wasn't joking. He had a bunch of doves and rabbits in that box for a magic act at a casino. I told him I could check with the ramp guys to keep the box stable, but I couldn't open it. He then showed me a trick with a coin that actually fooled me pretty good. Made my whole shift feel a little lighter. Has anyone else had performers ask for special treatment with their gear on a flight?

honestly the part that gets me is how nobody talks about the stress these performers must be under. like yeah cool free magic show at the gate but imagine having live animals in cargo on a plane. that thing could get delayed or rerouted and suddenly you're explaining to a casino boss why your rabbit is stressed out and can't do the trick. i bet some of them even hide animals in their carry on and just hope nobody notices. saw a vid once of a guy pulling a dove out of his jacket at security and it was chaos.

Wait what? A dove in his jacket at security? That's insane. I'd lose it if I saw that going through the X-ray machine. Can't imagine how that convo went with TSA.

Yeah, @joel603, people act like a dove in a jacket is World War III but it's just a bird.
