DSC panel took a lightning hit last Tuesday, still debating the fix
Got a call from a customer in Wichita whose whole system went dead after that storm rolled through, and sure enough the PC1832 board had a fried transformer and a couple dead zones. I replaced the board and power supply, but now the keypad is acting glitchy too. Do you guys replace everything after a hit like this or try to piece it back together first?

Nah man, piece it back together. Boards are cheap enough, and that keypad might just need a full factory reset or a firmware update after the surge. I'd swap the transformer and maybe a couple of keypad wires first before dumping money into a whole new system.

Factory reset", yeah that'll definitely fix fried electronics.

Consider checking the ground bonding too, I've seen a bad ground do weird stuff to keypads that a reset won't fix. Might explain why the surge hit more than just the transformer...
