That tripped breaker behind the drywall gave me a real scare in Wichita

I was swapping out an old panel in a 1970s ranch last month and the homeowner's dog kept barking at the wall, so I popped a panel open and found a live 120 line running through a stud bay with zero protection. Has anyone else run into abandoned wiring like that hidden behind finished walls, or am I just lucky?
