My friend said the ending of Attack on Titan was perfect, but I think it missed the mark.

We were arguing about it in my living room last week after the final episode aired, and he kept saying the character arcs were all wrapped up nicely. I felt like the last 15 minutes rushed some big ideas and left me with more questions than answers. What did you all think about how they handled the finale?

The scene where Armin thanks Eren for genocide felt rushed to me. It needed more time to breathe. They crammed Ymir's whole motivation into a single conversation with Mikasa. I'm fine with the ending they chose, but the last episode needed to be a full hour to land it right. Your friend probably focused on the big character moments, but the plot mechanics got messy.

Ymir's entire story got condensed into a few lines with Mikasa. That needed a whole flashback episode to really show her pain and choice. The finale tried to do too much too fast.

Actually the Ymir flashback was in the previous episode, not the finale. The show gave her a whole tragic backstory with the king. The finale just had Mikasa connect the dots about Ymir's feelings. The pacing was weird but they did show her pain earlier.
