The 'dub is better than sub' argument finally made sense to me during episode 8 of Cowboy Bebop
Spent 15 years reading subs and laughing at dub fans, then a friend in Portland made me watch the Spike vs Vicious fight with the English track and the voice work on the villain hit harder than the original. Is there a specific show that flipped anyone else like this, or am I just getting old?
Laughed at myself reading this because I did the exact same thing for years, swore subs were the only real way to watch anything. Then my brother sat me down with Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood in English and I had to eat my words, the dub cast actually made those emotional scenes land harder for me. Some dubs just get the feel of a character right in a way the original doesn't, and it has nothing to do with getting old. You are not losing your edge, you are just finally admitting both tracks can be good for different reasons.
