Rant: my old landlord said my place looked like a storage unit, and he was not wrong
Back when I rented a 400 sq ft studio in Fresno, I had this habit of stacking cardboard boxes along every wall because I swore I would need them when I moved again. My landlord came by for a routine check and just stood there for a second, then said "you know you live here, right?" and pointed at the boxes piled up to the window sill. It stung because he was right, I had been treating the place like a holding cell instead of a home. So I bought two cheap plastic shelving units from a hardware store and broke down every box I was not using, and suddenly I could actually walk to my kitchen without turning sideways. The weird part is the noise got better too, because all that cardboard against the shared wall was doing nothing to block my neighbor's TV anyway. Now I keep one small box for moving and that is it, and my places feel twice as big. Anyone else get called out by a landlord or a friend and end up changing how they set up their whole apartment over it?
