inTried a new lime mix on a chimney rebuild and the difference was huge
Yeah, that's the worst. Had a batch of lime mortar fail on some old, really porous stone because it dried too fast. Ended up having to mist it with water for like three days straight to get it to cure properly. The mix was right, but the material just sucked all the moisture out.

inUnpopular opinion: I spent $40 on a fancy annotated edition for our book club and it was a total waste
That director's cut scam is the worst, @the_kevin. I had a "special edition" blu-ray that just added a five minute making-of featurette from YouTube. Our book club fight was basically over whether the main character was brave or just stupid, and it got way too personal. I'm pretty sure two people aren't speaking now.

inMy aunt swore by using a cabbage leaf on top of my sauerkraut
Oh wow, that's actually a really cool idea. I read about that method on a gardening blog a while back, they said the big leaf works like a natural lid to block air. Some people use things like a glass weight or a zip-top bag filled with brine, but the cabbage leaf seems way simpler and you don't have to buy anything extra. I mean, it makes total sense when you think about it, it's just more cabbage. Might have to try that next time.

inCan we talk about the time I cut a plank backwards on a big LVP job
Honestly doubt it's that big of a deal... like how different can light bulbs and the sun really be. Claire_Sullivan's box staring idea sounds like overkill too. People get so worked up over tiny details that nobody will ever notice once the furniture is in. Just pick a wall and stick with it, the world won't end.

inRant: My neighbor's kid described a story idea and it made me question my whole process
Oh man, that is so true. I once tried to start a garden and spent weeks picking out the perfect planner notebook and drawing up color-coded layouts. I researched companion planting for months. By the time I was "ready," the whole summer was gone and I'd never even bought a packet of seeds. You just have to dig the first hole, even if it's in the wrong spot.
