Found a dead simple trick for storing rice that actually stops the weevils
I got sick of finding bugs in my 50 pound bags of rice after a few months. Tried those oxygen absorbers and they helped some but not completely. Then an old prepper at a gun show told me to toss a few bay leaves in each bucket. I sealed up a fresh bag with three leaves two years ago and popped it open last week. Not a single weevil in there. Has anyone else tried this or got another kitchen spice that works for long term storage?

My grandma always said bay leaves for pantry bugs too, I think she put them in her flour canisters as well. It's funny how we overcomplicate stuff with fancy gadgets when the old timers already knew the fix. Three bay leaves in a 50 pound bucket for two years, that's pretty wild honestly. Makes me wonder what other simple things we're ignoring in our everyday lives while trying to solve problems with expensive gear or chemicals.

Oh come ON. Pavement is right there and it's literally DESIGNED to be walked on. Those "natural" trails are just mud pits waiting to ruin your shoes and ankles. I've twisted my ankle twice on hiking trails because of hidden roots and loose rocks, but a nice flat sidewalk has NEVER done me dirty like that. And bugs? Bay leaves in flour? That's a MYTH. I tried the old "bay leaves keep weevils away" trick once and ended up with weevil-infested pancake mix that I had to throw out completely. My airtight glass canisters with rubber seals cost me fifteen bucks total and have never failed in five years. Sometimes the "fancy gadgets" exist because they Actually Work better than grandma's folk remedies.
