Just checked my basement food stash after 14 months and half the cans are bulging, I was storing them wrong the whole time

I had all my canned goods sitting flat on a concrete shelf in my basement in Spokane, and a buddy who does restaurant supply pointed out the moisture down there was wrecking the seals. Lost about 60 cans of chili and green beans to rust and swelling. Any of you use pallets or shelving to keep cans off the floor, or do I need to move the whole stash upstairs?
