A dryer vent stuffed with 14 feet of old lint ate my whole Saturday
Last Saturday I went out on a dryer that was taking 2 cycles to dry a load in Cedar Rapids, and I figured it was a clogged vent, easy 45 minute call. Turned out the flex duct behind the wall had a sag that collected lint for what looked like a decade, and no amount of snaking got it, so I ended up cutting the wall open and running new rigid pipe. What should have been a $150 vent cleaning turned into a 6 hour job and I didn't get home until 8pm. Now I'm wondering if I should just start quoting vent work by the foot instead of flat rate. How do you all price the ones where you can't see what's behind the drywall?
