Warning: swapping a compressor on a 2015 Whirlpool french door is a waste if you skip the drier first
I did two sealed system repairs on the same model last month and the difference was night and day. First one I just cut the old compressor out, brazed a new one in, vacuumed for 20 minutes and charged it, and it was back on my callback list 9 days later. Second one I replaced the filter drier too and pulled a proper vacuum down to 500 microns, held it 20 minutes, and that unit has been running fine for 5 weeks now. The drier is a $12 part, people. Stop skipping it. If the system had a burnout and you leave that old drier in there, you're just recycling acid through a brand new compressor and eating the labor twice. What vacuum level are you guys pulling to before you call it done?
