Saw a crew in Bakersfield top a 60 foot sycamore with no climbing line, just spikes and a ladder
Walked past a job site on Chester Ave last Tuesday and watched two guys take the whole crown off a big sycamore right next to the sidewalk. One was on spikes about 40 feet up with no rope on him at all, the other was holding a ladder steady and yelling up. They were done in under an hour, which is fast, but there was a chipper running with nobody spotting and cars going by 15 feet away. I get that a bucket truck costs money and small outfits have tight margins, but that's a lot of trust in a 2x4. Where do you all draw the line on spiking trees you aren't removing, or is that just how it goes in the flat parts of the valley?
