Rant: I spent $80 on a metal detector for my backyard and found a 1920s soda bottle cap...
It made me realize that history is literally under our feet, even in a suburb built in the 1950s, so what's the coolest everyday object you've ever dug up?

My best find was a 1902 Indian Head penny near an old tree line. It's not about the value, it's about the story you imagine. Just go slow and overlap your sweeps, you'll find more.

Wait, wait - a Roman coin? Like, actually in some random garden in England? That's insane to me. I've seen the videos of people finding those but I always figured it was staged. @amy_murphy85 have you ever tried this yourself? My uncle found a 1943 steel penny once and wouldn't shut up about it for weeks.

Ever read about that guy who found a Roman coin in his garden in England? Just a normal yard. Makes you look at every patch of dirt differently. I found an old toy car from the 60s near my fence. Not worth money but it felt like a little connection. That bottle cap is a solid find.
