Update: the museum slab I was prepping cracked in half last Thursday, so I glued it back and found a fossil in the seam
I was helping prep a limestone slab at the natural history museum in Boise last Thursday when it split right down the middle on me, and I figured my dig season was done. I used plain white glue and a stack of books to press it back together, then noticed a tiny fish spine in the crack that nobody had spotted before. Has anyone else had a break like that end up showing something good, or did I just get lucky?
I once glued a cracked trilobite back together with Elmer's and ended up hiding the seam so well I forgot which half was the real one. That fish spine must've been sitting in that Boise limestone for 50 million years just waiting for you to mess up.
