A guy at the coffee shop asked me a question that made me rethink my whole approach
I was grabbing a coffee in San Diego last Tuesday, and this older man saw me reading a forum on my phone. He leaned over and asked, 'What's the one thing you wish you could ask an expert, but feel too silly to?' It was so simple, but it hit me that I always overthink my questions trying to sound smart. I told him I wanted to know why my sourdough starter sometimes smells like nail polish. He just laughed and said, 'See? That's a real question.' What's a 'silly' question you've been holding back?

Wait, isn't that nail polish smell from acetone? That means your starter is really hungry. My silly one is about laundry, actually. Why do my black socks come out of the dryer when the load is still warm, but the towels are always stone cold?

Funny you should mention laundry, because my daughter just sent me an article about that. It said different fabrics hold heat in different ways, and towels are made to soak up moisture which makes them feel colder. My silly question is about my phone battery. Why does it say 20% one minute and then shut off two minutes later? The manual is no help at all.
