Spent 6 years doing filler work on bumpers wrong before a guy named Jake at a shop in Toledo set me straight

Oh man, Bulldog is the truth but you gotta be careful with it. That stuff is basically liquid sandpaper in a can, if you lay it on too thick it can actually make things worse over time. Good save though, Jake sounds like a real one for hooking you up with that tip.

Overheard a guy at the garden center say something that gave me chills

Catch myself doing this in other areas too, honestly. I got really into coffee a few years back and suddenly I was reading about single-origin beans from some micro-lot in Ethiopia that cost $40 a bag. Made me step back and realize I was more into the label than the actual taste. Same thing happens with kitchen knives, whiskey, even hiking gear. People get caught up in the story behind the thing and forget to just enjoy the thing itself. Your mileage may vary but for me, a decent local potting soil and a happy plant beats fancy dirt from Japan any day.

Called my buddy crazy for spending $200 on a sous-vide cooker. Now I own 3 of them.

My buddy swore he'd never buy an air fryer because he thought it was just a tiny convection oven with a dumb name. Then his wife brought one home and he made wings that beat anything from his actual oven by a mile. Now he uses it almost every single day and even takes it camping with him.

My mom puts ranch dressing on her grilled cheese sandwiches

Wait, you put the ranch inside before you cook it? That doesn't get weird and soggy?

Just realized my thermostat schedule was costing me extra each month

Used to be a total thermostat ninja, scheduling all kinds of ups and downs throughout the day lol. Then my buddy who works in HVAC basically said the same thing, just keep it steady. Was skeptical at first but my last bill was $38 less than the same month last year, so consider me converted.
