A guy at the Des Moines airport told me my resume was invisible and I should try something weird
He said my skills section was just a wall of words and nobody reads past the first 3 lines, so I cut it from 14 bullet points down to 4 things I could prove with a number. My callback rate went from 1 in 30 applications to 4 in 30 over about 6 weeks. Has anyone else had a stranger give them blunt feedback that turned out to be right?
A random guy at an airport terminal is not exactly a hiring expert, and 4 in 30 is still a 13 percent callback rate, so let's not crown him a career guru just yet.
