Shoutout to the guy who mentioned watching old BBQ competitions on VHS

Actually, I love the fast coffee trend.

I used to write my code in one big file, now I split it up

Remember my first web project? One HTML file with all the styles and scripts crammed inside. Tried to change the font color and broke the whole login button. Took me three days to find the missing bracket in that mess. Splitting things up felt like cleaning a hoarder's garage, but suddenly everything had a place.

I used to think a quick tap with the chisel was fine for cleaning risers, but a guy from the Toledo plant showed me the right way last week.

Heard about a buddy who skipped the Toledo method on a big job, thought like tyler_wilson that his old way was fine. Cost him three grand in callbacks for cracked tile in six months. Sometimes the "only" way is just the one that doesn't blow up later.

Can we talk about how I used to find writing prompts versus now?

Honestly, I miss the chaos of those old random lists. Finding a weird fantasy prompt in a sci-fi search sometimes sparked my best ideas.

Someone told me my colors were too safe and it clicked

That "default Photoshop swatches" line is brutal but useful. It's not about having a limited palette, it's about having a predictable one. You can master six colors, but if they're the same six blues and browns everyone uses for fantasy, it just blends in. The Tucson sunset thing works because it forces a new starting point, a different kind of limited set. It's the difference between choosing "forest green" and choosing the weird yellow-green from a specific moss photo.
